Step 1: Laying the Foundation with a Clean Slate
Every successful project starts with preparation. For this property, we knew the first step was clearing the area to set the foundation for the upgrades.
Our landscape clean-up began by removing unwanted plants that no longer contributed to the homeowner’s vision. We also dismantled an aging fence that had seen better days, clearing it away to make room for something fresh and functional.
We then graded the property, leveling slopes to create a smooth, even surface in preparation for the next phase. This step wasn’t merely about aesthetics—precise grading established a stable foundation for the upcoming features and enhanced water drainage throughout the property.
Step 2: Enhancing Privacy and Accessibility
Privacy can completely transform the way you enjoy your outdoor spaces, creating a sense of seclusion and comfort, while accessibility is key to ensuring that the space is functional and easy to navigate. For this property, we made substantial improvements by installing a wooden fence that not only enhances privacy but also adds a touch of natural beauty to the surroundings.
Additionally, we built a custom staircase to connect the different levels of the terrain, making the entire property more accessible and seamless to move through. These upgrades not only improved the overall usability of the space but also elevated its aesthetic appeal, providing the homeowners with a practical yet stylish outdoor retreat.
The fence was designed with privacy and practicality in mind. We installed custom-height fence posts and pre-stained the boards before installation. Pre-staining not only protected the wood from weather damage but also ensured a uniform, refined finish.
A key highlight of this fence is its anti-sag gate, designed for lasting durability and reliable performance. Over time, traditional gates often sag, making them challenging to operate. However, installing an anti-sag gate eliminates this problem, guaranteeing smooth and effortless use for years to come.

Custom Staircase
Accessibility was key for the homeowner, who needed a safer way to move between the upper and lower parts of the property. We installed a staircase made of pressure-treated wood, rated for ground contact to ensure durability despite constant exposure to moisture and soil.
The staircase was as much a functional improvement as it was an aesthetic one, with clean lines and a natural wood finish that blended seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
Entrance Revamp
To complement the upgrades, we replaced the property’s old mailbox stand with a sleek and sturdy new one. We also added native plants near the entrance, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance for anyone approaching the home.

Step 3: Hawaii Landscaping with Beauty and Practicality in Mind
After completing the structural and functional upgrades, we turned our attention to enhancing the property’s visual charm through carefully planned landscaping. Vibrant new plants were added around the entrance, creating a lush, welcoming atmosphere that immediately draws attention.
Taking into account the homeowner’s practical needs, we covered slopes with a weed barrier, topped with lava rock. This not only added a striking visual element to the space but also reduced maintenance by preventing weeds from taking root. These sloped areas became visually appealing while requiring minimal upkeep.
